The setting in Frakenstein is in Ingolstadt at a University. Frankenstein is studying science there and is creating the monster in his apartment. It describes him at the Ingolstadt Church "Morning, dismal and wet, at length dawned, and discovered to my sleepless and aching eyes the church of Ingostadt, it's white steeple and clock, which indicated the sixth hour." This makes the setting sound dreary and somewhat chilling. Mary Shelley wants this to have a scary effect on you because the monster has just been created. Overall the setting creates a chilling somwhat scary mood.
